Pakistan faces a multiplicity of crisis including a security crisis at the heart of which is the Pakistani state’s decades long policy of using jihadi groups for regional foreign policy interests. The Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is a case of jihadi blowback on Pakistan.

After decades of supporting jihadi groups in its neighboring countries, Pakistan today is facing the backlash of such policies. We are now warning the global community about the threat from TTP and asking for support.

However, as an editorial in Dawn remarked “Our demands for international action will lack conviction if we are not able to keep our own soil free of terrorist groups.”

In order for Pakistan to be taken seriously we need to act against all terror groups that operate on Pakistani soil. Till that happens the world will view with skepticism any such demands by Pakistan, a country that is still viewed as a country that supports jihadi groups.
